  Marcia's Poem of the Week - August 27, 2021 "A PRAYING MOTHER" Reflection on 1 Samuel Chapter 1 Samuel, born about 1105BC was the son of Elkanah and Hannah, from the tribe of Levi. Samuel was born in answer to his mother's prayers. Hannah had dedicated Samuel from birth and he served the Lord all his life. In I Samuel 1:27, Hannah said, “For this child I prayed and the Lord has answered the desire of my heart.” Hannah nurtured and weaned Samuel and then took him to Eli the Priest for his education. Psalm 127:3-4 says “Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him.” Last year the United States was gifted with over 3.6 million babies, according to the National Population Register.   Marcia's Poem of the Week Reflecting on Genesis 45:4, 5, & 9-11 “GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU” Forgiveness is really difficult. But holding an unforgiving spirit can make one sick. This story was one of the best stories for me to understand that God shows us how forgiveness works. Joseph could have been angry with his brothers and with God. And who could blame him. How many times have you been angry with God or someone else? Joseph was able to see that God's work took time. You can be sure that when you are hurting God is working to make things right. Talk to God, be patient, wait and watch Him work. God will take care of you.  In Genesis 45 we can read how God took care of Joseph and his family. Genesis 45: 4 “Please, come closer,” he said to them. So they came closer.   Marcia's Poem of the Week   8.06.2021   “AN IMPOSSIBLE VIEW”   Reflecting on Daniel 6:16  16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!” 17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. 18 Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating and without any entertainment being brought to him.   Marcia's Poem of the Week 7-23-21 "CONTENTEDLY SO”    For Sermon Series Valleys and Peaks -   Philippians 4:10-20   Paul said in Verse 11, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances .”   For me Contentment is a work in process. I am in the constant state of learning the kind of trust that Philippians 4:11 tells us that Paul already knew.    "CONTENTEDLY SO"       Philippians 4:11   I am a Christ child, Since I've been found, I belong to God's Kingdom, And I'm heaven bound.   I want what I have, And I have more than enough, My blessings are many, I need no more stuff.   I've been found by the Lord, He's all that I need, My life has been chartered, And now it's complete.   I do what I can, As my Lord decrees, I walk in His footsteps, And He helps me succeed.   I know I am loved, Contentedly so, Through choices I make, God...

Marcia's Poem of the Week  Reflecting on Pastor Madigan's last Sunday's sermon from I Kings 18:36-38 & 19:1-4. Learning to trust God in the Valleys and Peaks. Elijah experienced ups and downs in his service to the Lord. One of those times is found in I Kings 9:1-4. (1) Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. (2) So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, "May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them." (3) Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, (4) while he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, LORD," he said.
