Marcia's Poem of the Week 7.07.2023

Marcia's Poem of the Week  7.7.2023 “UP A TREE” Luke 19:1-10 19 Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town. 2 There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. 3 He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way. 5 When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name.  “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” 6 Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. 7 But the people were displeased. “He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,” they grumbled. 8 Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!” 9 Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

ZACCHAEUS UP A TREE

Zacchaeus' life was rich and plush,
Yet, he decided to climb up a tree,
The decision he made was rushed,
For it was the Lord he wanted to see.

The Lord came to town to meet him,
For greed was destroying his soul,
And Jesus wanted to forgive him,
And give truth to make him whole.

Jesus came with love to overflow,
And gave him his heart's desire,
And when it is to the Lord you go,
The Lord will set your soul on fire.

For the Lord's work has no bounds,
And His Spirit makes you able to know,
Grace comforts and love overwhelms,
And He'll meet you wherever you go.

Poem of the week for my great grandsons: Jeremiah, Tobiah and Elijah.

Key Verse: Luke 19: 3-5 \ “He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way. 5 When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name.  “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.”

LOVE FINDS YOU Luke 19: 1-10

Today you know Jesus is coming,
And you are too short to see,
And the crowd is far to many,
And you need to climb up a tree.

For it's on Him you can depend,
It's Him who will hear your plea,
And you know He'll be your friend,
And He'll not leave you up a tree.

So if you feel sad and empty,
Or if you're mind is not at ease,
Or if you are restless and needy,
He'll find you even up a tree.

So give Him praise for His coming,
And thanks for His glance your way,
And thanks for pardon and for healing,
And for Love you have everyday.
