Marcia's Poem of the Week 8.11.2023

Marcia's Poem of the Week taken from 1 Corinthians 13 NLT

“Love Is the Greatest"

4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 8 Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! 9 Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! 10 But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless. 11 When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. 12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. 13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

CHOOSE LOVE 1 Corinthians 13.

God defines His love in all,
And helps us follow and learn,
As we seek to understand His call,
His love keeps our hearts soft and warm.

His truth is the outcome of justice,
Love is the character of our Lord,
Even at times when life feels unjust,
Count on Him to keep His Word.

We may not always know the way,
But God does not leave us alone,
Focus on His love each day,
Because it's in His love we belong.

Faith works and gives as it must,
And hope is the strength of His way,
For our Lord cannot be unjust,
His love is central to life everyday.

Marcia's Poem of the week for my great grandsons, Jeremiah, Tobiah and Elijah. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

LOVE ISN'T BLIND

Love is patient and kind,
And delights in the truth.
Love protects heart and mind
And trusts without proof.

Love’s not boastful or proud,
Nor seeks its own way.
Love keeps no list of wrongs
And endures each day.

With love prophecies cease
And tongues hush still.
With love comes peace
And love will not fail.

Once love is received
From Christ your King,
Faith small as a mustard seed
Will make unclean things, clean.
