Marcia's Poem of the Week 6.09.2023

Marcia's Poem of the Week 6/9/2023 “DO GOOD”

I Peter 2: 18-25: 18 You who are slaves must submit to your masters with all respect. Do what they tell you—not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel. 19 For God is pleased when, conscious of his will, you patiently endure unjust treatment. 20 Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you. 21 For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. 22 He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. 23 He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. 24 He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. 25 Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.

“DO GOOD”
Key verse: I Peter 2: 21 For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

We're called to do good for each other
And be ready to offer help with respect
It takes time and effort to be a helper
A task we may not want to accept.

But our Lord requires submission
Whether another is kind or cruel
We'll not get God's praise or portion
If we hurt others as a fool would do.

But should we suffer for doing right
God will be pleased with our intent
For we are called to live upright
As we follow His lead and relent.

Christ didn't get angry in suffering
He gave His all to the Father who's fair
He never was imprudent or insulting
He suffered through life's wear and tear.

Neither did He set out for revenge
He placed His cause into God's hand
And neither did He carry a grudge.
For salvation is His promise and plan.

The Holy Spirit is always revealed
And we, like sheep tend to go astray
But it is by His wounds we are healed
Equipped for each moment of each day.

Poem of the week for my great grandsons, Jeremiah, Tobiah and Elijah. Key verse: I Peter 2: 21 For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

“DO GOOD”

A young person like you,
May not fully understand,
How to practice Christs love,
Or know how to do His plan.

But Christ knows you can love,
And that it is Him you exalt,
And His Spirit from above,
Makes your love overcome all.

It is time to forgive someone,
If they made your heart ache
And being angry is no fun,
Forgive them for your own sake.

Know Christ gives you His power,
That is stronger than any others,
He'll give you the ability this hour,
To do good and forgive all others.
