Marcia's Poem of the Week 5.05.2023

Marcia's Poem of the Week 5/5/2023 “ANGER”

James 1:16-22 NLT 16  So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. 18  He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.19  Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. 20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. 21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. 22  But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

“ANGER” James 1:16-22 NLT

When anger consumes your life,
Your soul becomes dark and hollow,
Where hurt and fear is rife,
And soon bitterness will follow.

Your heart continues to beat,
But anger blocks out God's light,
Where darkness is made complete,
And a fake-smile spreads tight.

Movement is addled and dull,
Sleepless and empty is your night,
For anger makes your hours full,
Causing you to lash out in spite.

Anger is raging, rigid and icy,
And brings panic into your life,
Where love or joy is no longer likely,
Where the dark and hollow will spike.

Know righteousness is what God desires,
And anger will tear your life apart,
When you forgive as He requires,
His Holy Spirit will flood your heart.

Marcia Riehle 2023

Marcia's Poem of the Week 5/5/2023 for my great grandsons, Jeremiah, Tobiah and Elijah. Key verse: James 1:22  But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

IN ANGER DO NOT SIN

When someone causes you trouble,
Let go of all anger or greed,
Through Christ and the Holy Spirit,
You'll have everything you need.

Be compassionate to one another,
And keep busy with gentle hands,
You'll need to forgive each other,
As God has always planned.

So even in hurt and anger,
Let your troubled soul not sin,
Know the Holy Spirit will guide you,
So you'll be whole and happy again.
