Marcia's Poem of the Week “WORSHIP “

Exodus 32: 1 When the people saw how long it was taking Moses to come back down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron. “Come on,” they said, “make us some gods who can lead us. We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses, who brought us here from the land of Egypt.”

Exodus 32:3-6 / 3. All the people took the gold rings from their ears and brought them to Aaron. 4. Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed, “O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!” 5. Aaron saw how excited the people were, so he built an altar in front of the calf. Then he announced, “Tomorrow will be a festival to the Lord!” 6. The people got up early the next morning to sacrifice burnt offerings and peace offerings. After this, they celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged in pagan revelry.
Exodus 32:19 When they came near the camp, Moses saw the calf and the dancing, and he burned with anger. He threw the stone tablets to the ground, smashing them at the foot of the mountain.

ISRAEL'S WORSHIP

Israel felt lost and alone,
Moses was gone,
They thought he had died.
They wondered what to do,
Walking around without a clue,
And in anxiety they cried.

With determination and tears,
Thoughts from past fears,
Came out of their pain.
Then they created an idol,
The golden calf was its title,
On which they could depend.

The golden calf came forth,
Made in god's name, of course,
There to replace the Lord.
Moses arrived and was so mad,
He trashed the truth he had,
That contained God's holy word.

"OUR WORSHIP"

When you're lost and alone,
Without God to call your own,
Are you filled with dread?
Do you wonder what to do?
Going on without a clue,
Thinking all hope is dead.

Between determination and tears,
Do you drum up past fears,
To wallow in your pain.
Or, do you become obsessed,
To relieve your unrest,
And create a fake god to fill-in.

What's your golden calf's name,
That you dreamed up to claim,
Or are you your own lord?
When it's God's truth you employ,
Know He is filled with great joy,
When you trust in His Word.

THE LAW OF FORGIVENESS

A young one such as you,
Needs to know what to do,
When you're hurt or confused,
And do not have a clue.

Know forgiveness is a virtue,
That can help you tolerate,
If there be such an issue,
Turning a hurt-heart to hate.

You can bear the pain,
To overlook one's flaws,
And not be quick to blame,
Even if you suffer loss.

If your heart stirs in anger,
When treated with unfairness,
Recall, you have the answer,
It's “God's Law of Forgiveness.”
