 Marcia's Poem of the Week 3.17. 2023

“God of the Mountain”    Exodus 19:3–8 (NLT):

3. Then Moses climbed the mountain to appear before God. The LORD called to him from the mountain and said, 'Give these instructions to the family of Jacob; announce it to the descendants of Israel: 4.‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians. You know how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5. Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me. 6. And you will be my kingdom of priests, my holy nation.’ This is the message you must give to the people of Israel.” 7. So Moses returned from the mountain and called together the elders of the people and told them everything the LORD had commanded him. 8. And all the people responded together, “We will do everything the LORD has commanded.” So Moses brought the people’s answer back to the LORD.

“God of the Mountain”

The Earth is God's creation,
And you're His special treasure,
And His Kingdom is a holy nation,
Where you're called to be forever.

Our world has His beauty,
That you may never fully know,
But you can feel Him truly,
Everywhere you go.

His living water makes you holy,
And blesses you through baptism,
A main part of this earth's glory,
Is His people fully commissioned.

For it's God that made the mountain,
And made the streams and valleys too,
And He has given you His only son,
To add instruction and favor unto you.

He reminds you of His power,
For He carried you before you knew,
And He held you each hour,
As Eagle Wings now carry you.

You needn't climb the mountain,
For the Lord stands by you,
Give Him your heart and passion,
So His love can be subdued.

For as you do all for the Lord,
He will do all for you,
And as you lean on His word,
His proof will show in all you do.

“God of the Mountain”

My precious little mountain climbers,
You are brave and you are strong,
God will always be your provider,
For in His love is where you belong.

Each mountain climber has rules,
And each climber has challenges,
And no one climbs without tools,
For God's Word immortalizes.

And His tools give you truth,
And you're to do His commands,
And He makes it possible to do,
With your heart, mind and hands.
