Marcia's Poem of the Week:   John 20: 1-10 NLT

 “EASTER PEOPLE”    4/22/2022

John 20: 1-10 NLT  "1 Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. 2 She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” 3 Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. 4 They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. 6 Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, 7 while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. 8 Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed— 9 for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead. 10 Then they went home."

Pastor Jay's Easter Sermon mentioned God's people as “Easter People.” I was struck by that thought. What does "Easter People" mean? Perhaps you have other thoughts about what makes you part of the “Easter people,” family. Consequently, my poem below is about Easter People.

John 20:8 "Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed—"

EASTER PEOPLE John 20: 1-10 NLT

Easter people sing,

Hallelujah is their song,

Music's God's wellspring,

And Easter people His throng.

Easter people are secure,

They enjoy sunrise each morn,

And see the sick being cured,

And see new lives reborn.

Easter people praise Him,

For safety through the night,

They go about their day then,

Trusting He'll make things right.

Easter people have open arms,

For the needy everywhere,

Easter people share alms,

Evidence of God's care.

Easter people believe,

And also read God's word,

The Bible helps them perceive,

The joy of Christ the Lord.

Easter people learn His way,

For Christ is who they need,

They talk to Him every day,

And He equips them to succeed.

Easter people access God's power,

That's given to those who believe,

He makes life sacred each hour,

By binding sin to set them free.

Confess Jesus as your Lord too,

Believe in His holy name,

Be Easter people that go and do,

You'll have eternal-life to gain.

Poem of the week for my great grandsons: Jeremiah, Tobiah and Elijah

EASTER CHILDREN

Because God is so loving,

Easter season has arrived,

It's not about eggs and candy,

Or about a basket to hide.

It's all about a loving God,

That gave His only son,

Who died upon the cross alone,

To save each and everyone.

The sweetness of God's gift,

Tastes better than any candy,

His gift equips your life,

And serves from God's plenty.

You're God's favorite children,

Cared for each day,

You are one of His chosen,

Able to show others His way.
