Marcia's
Poem of the Week 12/24/2021 “THE GOOD WORK”
Reflecting
on Philippians 1:6, "I am certain that God, who began the good work
within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when
Christ returns," and on Micah 6:8, “O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and
this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with
your God.”
Since
we sin, salvation promises New Life in Christ. We still make mistakes, but
Jesus bears the penalty for our sin whereby, we are free from all sin: past,
present and future. We've been saved from sins penalty and are justified. Which
means that the grace of God has sealed us permanently making us new, which is
our sanctification (2 Corinthians 1: 20-22.) Once sanctified we are given the
deposit of the Holy Spirit within. This gives us the power to do the right
thing, though we are still subject to error. However, overtime we learn to
resist sin by choosing holiness. Choosing holiness over sin is “the good
work”.
“THE
GOOD WORK” Isaiah 43:19
Christ
grew in favor of God and man,
And in
time maturity came to be,
He
walked sure-footed on dry land,
And was
gifted to walk on the sea.
He'll
help you take His word to flight,
Where
no one can ever unsend,
And
you'll be able to know the right,
And
never be without a friend.
Your
walk with Him will touch others,
Your
heart will fill with favor,
He'll
watch over you through the hours,
For the
Lord God is your Savior.
Thus,
fear not the life set before,
For He
will not leave you undone,
His
Spirit comes to you forevermore,
To do
the “good work” Christ has begun.

Poem for Jeremiah, my great-grandson:
GOD'S FAMILY PLAN
Christ was little once like you,
And He grew into a man,
He was taught what to do,
By God's special family plan.
He became master and teacher,
Of a small band of men,
And they became a leader,
Of the future Church back then.
God's family plan includes you,
For He knew you would need Him,
So, he gave the Church to you,
To love from beginning to end.
God's family love is greater still,
Then any love you'll ever know,
He has you within His will,
And He'll go wherever you go.
You can know God's
family today,
And walk along in Jesus's steps,
God holds you up along the way,
As you receive the family's best.
