Marcia's Poem of the Week 12.17.2021

Poem of the Week by Marcia 12-17-21 “LOOK”

A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on." Carl Sandburg.

Scripture from Matthew 1:23, Look! The virgin will conceive a child. She will give birth to a son, and they will call Him, Emmanuel which means 'God is with us.'”

LOOK!

We look for a better world,

One without danger or pain,

And God sent us His baby boy,

So the world would not be the same.

We look for a peaceful life,

One with a place of safety,

But God's baby came in strife,

To let us know He is our deity.

We look for money and power,

One that gives access to everything,

God sent a baby instead of power,

We're not look for what the world brings.

We look for recognition and approval,

One that will give us respect and attention,

But God sent a baby boy for our perusal,

And we may live without world recognition.

We look for a life of happiness,

One with smooth sailing and a smile,

But God sent His boy into unhappiness,

Placed in a world that's dark and hostile.

We look for a life of comfort and love,

One with good health and plenty of food,

But God gave His baby boy from above,

Instead of everything we think He should.

Now look for the precious Lord,

He is all the things you're looking for,

Look for Him in people and His Word,

For God is with us forevermore.

For: Jeremiah my great-grandson

Jesus Came

He was little boy like you,

Born on Christmas day,

Tiny and precious too,

In mother's arms rocking away.

Baby sweet and whimpering,

Sleepy eyes beginning to close,

Needing mother's care and hugging,

As he begins to dose.

And daddy Joseph standing by,

Watching over mother and son,

While angels watch from on high,

Knowing our Lord has come.

For He has come to save lives,

He has come to love you too,

He has come to make you wise,

And help you in all you do.
