Marcia's Poem of the Week 11.05.2021

“GOD'S REST”

Scripture from New Living Translation

 

Hebrews 4:3 says, “For only we who believe can enter His rest.” And Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” And, in Matthew 11:28 we read, " Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.'" 

 

Thoughts regarding God's Rest:

 

GOD'S REST

 

Alive and powerful,

    Is God's Holy Word.

And sharper it is,

    Then a two-edged sword.

 

It's able to cut in-to,

    The body-whole,

That divides joints, marrow,

    Spirit and soul.

 

It exposes wrong thinking,

    Honoring the right,

For nothing is hidden,

    From our Lord's sight.

 

Our desires lay bare,

    To His all-seeing eye,

And He gives us His care,

    To love and live by.

 

Bring burdens to the Lord,

    He loves it when you do.

Bring Him and His word,

    Into everything you do.

 

Let Him guide your way,

    And you'll live your best,

Believe in Him today,

    And you'll enter His rest.

  Poem of the Week by Marcia 9/24/2021   “ONE WHO SERVES” Reflection on 1 Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, do not consider his appearance or his height for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at things people look at; people look at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.” And on , Luke 22:27 “For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table?   Marcia's Poem of the Week Reflecting on Genesis 45:4, 5, & 9-11 “GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU” Forgiveness is really difficult. But holding an unforgiving spirit can make one sick. This story was one of the best stories for me to understand that God shows us how forgiveness works. Joseph could have been angry with his brothers and with God. And who could blame him. How many times have you been angry with God or someone else? Joseph was able to see that God's work took time. You can be sure that when you are hurting God is working to make things right. Talk to God, be patient, wait and watch Him work. God will take care of you.  In Genesis 45 we can read how God took care of Joseph and his family. Genesis 45: 4 “Please, come closer,” he said to them. So they came closer.
