Poem of The Week by Marcia

Reflecting on Hebrews 12:1-2

 “CHEERING US ON”

Hebrews 12:1-2 (1)“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, (2) fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

“CHEERING US ON” Hebrews 12:1-2

The saints cheer us on,

As we live each day,

Rallying us to respond,

To the Lord's love and way.

Every day is for change,

To throw off things that hinder,

And to avoid the tangles of sin,

And to seek God in sweet surrender.

We're to run the race before,

That's marked out for us,

So we can then explore,

Fixed and courageous.

Our pioneer and perfecter,

Jesus our only guide,

Chose joy and endured hatred,

And scorned shame that death applied.

Yes, Joy comes in the morning,

Fix on him with your eyes open,

He'll satisfy your every longing,

And mend your heart that's broken.

While the saints proudly stand,

Surrounding to cheer you on,

Your advocate is at the right hand,

Sitting with God on the Throne.
